Here is a fun craft to do with old books:
Print INSPIRE directly onto the pages 😀
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Trim your pages to the precise same width, cutting with a ruler and a blade is useful to ensure precision.
- FLAGS:
- Measure the size of the page precisely, mine are 130mmx210mm.
- Create a custom setting for your printer
- Print one letter per page, keep an eye on the size of the graphics, you might want to downsize it a little… I printed mine in 75% of full size
- Use a pencil to mark the middle point, directly under the E
- Measure the distance from the bottom edge of the page to the bottom edge of the E (the largest of the letters)
- Copy the pencil mark in the same spot to the other letters
- Cut out a triangle from the book page, using the pencil mark and the two bottom corners as guidelines.
- ROSETTES:
- Use an edge punch or decorative scissors if you want the edge decor
- Accordion fold 2 pages into 8 sections each
- Fold each page into a half rosette, and glue it together
- Glue the two halves together to create a whole rosette
- Punch paper buttons out of decorative scrap paper
- Sew the buttons on top of the rosette with twine
- (Alternatives: you can use real buttons, or glue the paper circle to the rosette rather than sewing it)
- Attatch the rosette to the flag, I punched a small hole near the top edge of the flag and used the string from the sewing to thread through it, but you can glew the rosette also).
- String your printed garland
- Hang and TA-DAH: Vintage INSPIRE :-).
The high quality PNG-letters for INSPIRE can be found in the download folder below. The files are free for your personal use and enjoyment.
Here are a few more graphics I have printed onto book pages:
PNG-files (transparent background) and graphics on white backgrounds work the best for this project. Now what to use all those cute book pages for…? Stay tuned for more book page crafts 😀

Sooooooooo beautiful work here again swewetie. I can already imagine, how it´ll look in your room, and help make it all homey there.
I was sooo sorry to read, that you didn´t get the job, I have been crossing everything and hoping, you would get it, but like you said, there´ll probably soon come more jobs to apply on, as the compagnies get back from vacation everywhere. I´ll go and have a look in the folder now in a short time to see that beautiful table, you´ve foiund and how it fits in your space there.
Have a great week-end and lots of crafty fun and take good care.
I’m a little bummed about the job, it was a job I would have liked very much, and the pay was good, as well as the career oportunity 😛 The person who got it was a little bit more experienced in that particular field, though, so I can’t be too upset, fair is fair. I also got word on Friday that there will definitely not be any more work for me where I’m currently at, I was hoping things could change for the better, but no. So this coming week I’ll be bending over backwards to write open applications and hand deliver them “everywhere”…lol
Thanks for the lovely comment on my garland, you guessed correctly, I made it for the studio 🙂 I have been working here all weekend, and I must thank you again!!! (and again and again) for the inspiration you gave me to reorganize my house and create my new space. It is totally awesome, and I don’t want to leave the room…lol! Think I have been downstairs for a quick shower, food and drinks, and that’s it 😀 😀
I was aiming at finishing some of the (many) projects in progress, to be able to have a nice and tidy room and take some pictures to show you all what my new space looks like (even if it is far from finished!), but I keep meesing it up, so no pictures yet…lol But several projects have been completed, so that’s good 😀
Big hugs to you sweetie, and hope you’ll have another lovely summer week. Do let me know if the Princesses are doing any more book crafts! 😉 xoxoxo
I´m soooo glad to hear, my advise were usable, and you´re enjoying the new room that much. And don´t you dare to excuse for it being messy, cause anything else would npt be natural ha ha ha. If you could see my room when we´re playing here, you wouldn´t think twice about sharing s bit of mess ha ha ha.
The girls are actually comming here again on wednesday and staying til friday, and they´re even both bringing 2 of their little girlfriends each, and they´ve been at their local thriftstore to find books, so they´re bringing more books, when they come back, because they want me to teach them another kind of books, I used to make many years ago, so I´m sure we´re going to have some fun with that. I promisse, I´ll take some pics of both our bookmaking AND all our mess while we´re making them ha ha ha, and share them on my blog next week.
Sorry to hear about your jobsituation, but I´ll cross everything possible, that you´ll soon be able to find a new jog, and I´m sureyou will, and maybe even a better one then.
Have a great evening and lots of fun.
Your banner is so elegant, love it Gunnvor!
Thank you Hunny, YOU inspired this, asking me for brown inchies and brads…:-D 😀 😀 xoxoxo
Oh yes, these are gorgeous indeed! And I can know, haha, because you’ve surprised me with these beautiful pages ‘live’! I adore them. So pretty! I love all those images you’re using, completely my style! I have to make that banner too………… for another craftroom LOL. I will find space for it i’m sure. So pretty!!!!
My INSPIRE garland is now hung almost up under the ceiling, there is a-l-w-a-y-s room for a banner…lol I bet you can put it somewhere else in your house too, why not make it to wake up to in the morning? 😀
Very good idea Gunnvor!!!! There’s nothing there yet when I wake up since I moved, so……… great inspirational idea that is! Thank you so much again!
xox
Thank you for your generous spirit. I wish you well in your studies too. Love your graphics. Take care and craft on my friend.
Thank you Darling 🙂
I’m very happy to report that I have completed my studies, I’m now officially Master of Sciences in Planning and Leadership…lol Sounds impressive, doesn’t it…:-P But I now need a JOB… so that is my next challenge… 😛 xoxoxo
Love this project and will try to do some this weekend. Have some old books no one reads anymore so I’m excited to turn them into creative and useful things, thanks to your inspiration. How did you get the tiny holes around the hearts? I’ve seen some heart punchers but not with holes around.
Thank you Dear 🙂 I used a Martha Stewart Edger Heart Lace Punch, hopefully this link should provide the correct type: https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/martha-stewart-crafts-edger-heart-lace-metal-grey-015586831870/1705068612?_trksid=p2047675.l2644 If you want to purchase it, I suggest searching a bit, it might be possible to find at a cheaper price in your country 🙂 xoxoxo
