1896 Boston Sunday Globe – The Little Coasters

Another vintage scene, tonight I’m sharing The Little Coasters, originally printed in the Boston Sunday Globe, on February 23rd, 1896:

Since it was printed in February, it probably was not meant as a Christmas scene, but I’m nevertheless planning to display it with my other Christmas stuff 😛

The Little Coasters are also tucked in a vintage jar, snow globe style. My jar is a Norgesglas, which is the Norwegian equivalent to Mason jars 🙂 I filled some Maldon sea salt flakes in the bottom of the jar, I think regular (cheap) coarse sea salt will do the job as snow too 🙂

Are you curious about the the Christmas tree that can be seen in the background? I designed piles of those last year, find them here (click on the image below to go to the post):

I have resized The Little Coasters to fit on regular A4 paper. If you want the size that fits in a Mason jar, choose the sheet with two copies.

  1. Dear Gunnvor Karita,

I already know this victorian scene from “The Boston Sunday Globe”. They are lovely!
Like you, I collected them, and maybe in Christmas time I made a post about it in my blog.
Hugs from Portugal, and thank you for sharing !

    1. Dear Alexandra!
I’d love to see more of Boston Sunday Globe scenes! I have only seen a few, and if they had an art supplement one every Sunday, there must be sooo many I have not seen 😀 xoxoxo

  2. These are so sweet Gunnvor and I’m so pleased you gave the links for the little trees (and the cottages too!) I must have missed these and can’t wait to have a go. Thanks so much for all your freebies. Margie x

    1. YAY!! I’m actually very happy you have not seen the trees and cottages before, they remain one of my fave projects to date, and I’m thrilled every time someone sees them for the first time and express your reaction…lol! xoxoxo
