2014 WoW Christmas Ornament Swap: Set No 1

With one month left until Christmas, I was utterly pleased when I got word today that the first set of Christmas Ornaments has reached it’s new home!

The following set of Tart Tin Ornaments was made by Irene in Arkansas, USA for Margie in Northumberland, England:

Wings of Whimsy: Christmas Ornament Swap 2014 Wings of Whimsy: Christmas Ornament Swap 2014 Wings of Whimsy: Christmas Ornament Swap 2014 Wings of Whimsy: Christmas Ornament Swap 2014 Wings of Whimsy: Christmas Ornament Swap 2014

This is what Irene had to say about making the ornaments:

I purchased the tart tins at a local antique store. I painted them with gesso then I painted them with a cream colored acrylic paint. I used graphics from your site. Attached Tim Holtz pearl charms and some seam binding ribbon.  I have been collecting vintage tart tins for a while now so when you announced your swap I knew I wanted to join the group.

And what Margie said when receiving them:

I am so pleased to let you know that I received Irene’s lovely trio of altered tart tins today and they are just fabulous!  I am so thrilled with them – could you thank her very much for me and they will certainly become keepsakes to be brought out for many years to come.

I LOVE Irene’s ornaments, and I am so very happy that she decided to join the first ever swap here on WoW! Please share in the comments what you think of her ornaments, I think they are worthy of some extra special blog love 😀 😀 😀

I am  also very exited to see that Irene chose to use graphics I have shared here on WoW before (although there was NO obligation to do so!!!), to make these wonderful little creations, thus I’m able to point you to my post, so you can ALL make your own copies of Irene’s magic pieces 😀

Did you miss out on the planning of this swap? This is what my swappers signed up for back in September:

  • Each swap is for a set of 3 ornaments. Either 1 tart tin swap or 1 cookie cutter swap, swapped with one swap buddy
  • Deadline November 15th to craft your ornaments, take pictures and get the packages ready
  • Send pictures to me of the finished ornaments
  • Alert me when the swapped ornaments arrive at their new home

  1. No wonder, that Marnie was pleased, they´re absolutely stunning. Soooo gorgeous work here Irene, I absolutely LOVE them too, they´re soooo gorgeous, really beautiful work from Irene here, and thanks sooo much for the describtion on how you got this beautiful result too Irene. I can only regreat, that I didn´t have the time to join this one, as I would certainly have loved to recieve such a trio too, but hopefully next year maybe, we can do another swap. Wonderful job hun, can´t wait to see more of these beauties here soon too.

    1. Thank you for the nice comment, dear Maryann 🙂 I love the fact that when you ask crafters to create something and very few instructions, the results are so amazingly different! Both the individual ornaments we each have made, but also completely different “takes” on the project…lol

And I will not take “no” for an answer from you next time…lol!!! xoxoxo

  2. I received my package yesterday from Margie. I love them. Such beautiful work. I am going to put them on my tree this year. Please let me know if you need me to send pictures. Thank you and Merry Christmas.

    1. I hope they all arrived safely! Or that you at least are able to piece them back together if they came apart…:-P Looking at the items you exchanged, I belive the two of you were a good match 🙂 No need for you to take more pictures of the items, Margies images were excellent. If you can take a picture of YOU with the ornaments, I would love to share it…lol

  3. Lovely ornaments with much thought involved. I learned something very important: decorate the backs of hanging ornaments! They’re are lovely front and back.

    1. I agree, the backs are so tricky! I wanted the backs to be pretty, but not compete with the fronts…:-O I think Irene succeed so well in accomplishing just that 🙂 And take a look at the set coming up tomorrow, she has really neat back on her ornies too 😉 xoxoxo
