Here is another lantern for you, this time with cute Snow Children from The Graphics Fairy:
This is another quick and easy project. 🙂 I think the lantern looks cute on top of my doll house, that I one day hope to give a vintage fairy makeover. Until then, it is another (covered) shelf in my studio, with my sewing notions up on the roof 😀
Instructions:
- Print out my resized sheet with the graphics, mine were printed on Canon Matte Photo Paper (170g).
- Cut out the wrap and cut out the “glas” from the lanterns – use a sharp exacto knife for precission
- Roll the paper a few times, until it starts holding the shape a little by itself
- Apply a piece of tape to the inside of the seam
- Insert your roll into the Mason jar
- Add a little epsom salt in the bottom. It both looks like snow, and helps hold your tea light in place.
- Light a battery tea light inside your lantern.
- TA-DAH: Vintage Snow Children Lantern, for Christmas, or all winter 😀

Dear Sonja! Thank you very much for taking the time to leave me a comment:-) I’m very happy to hear that the images I share also can be used for miniature projects! I’m itching to start the doll house, but realize it will be veery time conuming,so for now it remains a future project…:-P In the meantime I enjoy very much re-creating paper toys, and I like going the other way, enlarging the printables I come across. I have used both tuck sites a lot, they are such fabulous resources! I also love your site, and now know who to ask w-h-e-n I start my doll house project 😀 xoxoxo
Oh my these are sooo cute too. I love this image hun, it´s so cute and would go really well with any christmas andscape too, I think.AND they would look amazing printed on silkpaper and used around a big blockcandle too, I´m sure. ThinkI will give that a try, as I use to make a new set of those for my Daughter in law every christmas, so that might be her motive this year he he. Anyways thanks so much for sharing it here with us sweet lady.
Thank you for the lovely comment Dear Maryann! I’m very happy to hear that you might be able to use some of my graphics/ideas for project you already have on your list…lol! That way my graphics might actually h-e-l-p-i-n-g you, rather than add to your looong list of “someday” projects…lol!!! I never tried crafting with candles, so if you ever have time, I’m hoping you could do a tutorial…? I would imagine the silk paper would catch on fire, being wrapped around a candle, but I see people are making these and doubt that they would be so popular if they were a major fire hazard… so I need to know what the secret is…lol!!! Big hugs to you Hunny 🙂
I actually have made a tutorial for these a couple of years ago, but can´t remember if it´s on my new blog here thoug?? Will have a check, and if it was on the old blog, I´ll upload it to the new one too, so you can see it. Don´t worry about the paper, cause it´s be melted into the candle and wount burn like paper normally do, but just melt with the candle, so no reason to worry. I´ve made these candles for many years, and they burn like any candles, just make sure it´s real stearin candles, then they´ll burn just perfect.
What a cute idea Gunnvor, thank you!
Thanks sweetie, it’s really sooo easy to do 😀 xoxoxo
