Antique Seed Catalog Reinvented – 1898 Maule’s Cherub Frame

Every time I post a new collage here, I want to declare it my favorite! Maybe because it is a more recent work than the previous, and thus more warm to my heart, I don’t know… but I definitely love how this 1898 Maule’s Seed Catalog turned out as a frame:

I think it works perfectly with portraits of a couple. And who better to model my lovers frame than Petrine and her fiancé Bertel?

Look at the little flowers they both carry on their jackets! I believe this couple must have been very romantic! He probably carried her tripod while they were climbing up the hill to find a perfect spot for their photo shoot… awww, I can only imagine the Belle Epoque courtships…lol And look at their smiles at each other, they look very much in love!

And don’t forget to take a look at her hat! Are those grapes under the brim?

  1. Todays pics are also really cool and very very beautiful, and I love it as a frame for happy couples too. They look sooo happy and is really beautiful. You´ve really hit the nail here with all these catalogs to use as frames for this. It looks fabulous and really suit these old photos very very much. And all the people here also looks soo happy and like they all feels very good on them self, whichI wish we could say about all people todfay too, but people today seems sooo much more stressed, which also shows in photos. The older photos seems to show some much more happy peaople somehow? Or maybe it´s just something I seems to see, not sure if it´s just me havingn wishfull thinking ha ha ha.
Have a wonderful week-end now, and lots of fun. I have the girls here, so I know, I´ll get plenty of that ha ha ha.

    1. Thank you my Dear 🙂 I have a several more Seed Catalog projects prepared/in progress, but I just realized I have completely forgotten about Easter! So I’m posting a couple more where the blogposts are already done, and then I’ll switch to Easter stuff! But I promise I will return with more Seed Catalog projects after Easter, I have a complete series of 9(!) matching rose frames not posted yet, and other stunning ideas too 😉

In many antique photos, I find that the people are absolutely serious! Almost like clean slates with no expression at all. I think that is why I love this collection so much! These are the “leftover” pictures, that Petrine kept for herself, the true, genuine moments, where people are smiling, and feelings are showing. Some of these pictures might have been dismissed in favor of more perfectly serious pictures. Having your picture taken back then was a formal and serious matter, and the result was supposed to look stately. I love this collection for the sneak peek into their lives behind the scenes! Hugs and kisses to the girlies, enjoy your weekend together 🙂 xoxoxo
