Duchess Catherine of Cambridge is in labour! Her royal baby will be the great-great-great-great-great-grandchild of Queen Victoria, descending directly through monarchs! (Assuming of course that the grandfather Charles will follow Queen Elizabeth, and the father William thereafter.) This baby will be fourth in line to the Commonwealth throne, after Charles, William and the older brother George (b. 2013). This is so exciting, I’ll surely be on royal baby-watch today 😀
Tuck DB printed a colorized version of the 1877 image I shared in my last post. Unfortunately I have (so far) not come across it in very good resolution. Still, it is a nice pice in my royal genealogy research, so I have tried to enlarge and improve the image at least a little bit:
And although I have found a couple of helpers for my Pretty Data project, I’m still hoping there will be others! I’ve started to divide my material into countries, although the European countries have also changed during the last 200-300 years…
Here is a list I have made of the countries and their sovereigns in 1897 (the time of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee):

If you read this and think: that is MY country, MY history and I’d like to know more about it too: don’t hesitate to contact me and join this project 🙂 I promise you will learn bunches, have fun, and get access to a unique collection of European Royal Imagery!!! And I’m confident there will be many unforgettable images and a couple of fabulous projects to share here on WoW as a result of this, but please forgive me for being a little absentminded while I work on the research 😛
