Antique Seed Catalog Reinvented – 1899 Dingee Conard Rose Picture

Just like the Lippincott Seed Catalogs are my favorites for “ultimate cuteness”, the Dingee Conard Seed Catalogs are my favorites for roses! The second outdoor picture utilizes a 1899 Dingee Conard Rose Catalog page:

I used some old plastic frames I had lying around, I’m sure you can find similar frames at thrift stores. I painted them white with my home made chalk paint, and rubbed some of the paint off with a moist cloth:

I printed my altered Dingee Conard Pictures, cut them out and ran them trough my laminator, so they can take the moist air outside better.

This is my grandfather’s youngest siblings Per, Knut and Emma, in their rosy frame:

And the frame for you to use with your own pictures, vintage or new:

And finally a preview of the original Dingee Conard seed catalog page I used to create this picture:

    1. Awww, thank you Ilse! I know it might seem like I’m bouncing around many different topics, but that is just me, and the nature of my whimsy…lol Glad you enjoy my musings, and I appreciate very much your comment! xoxoxo

  1. Oh sooo beautiful all these things are, and I still remember we all made these great lanterns back in the schooldays too, thoug they ofcause wasn´t with the US theme, but we made loads of these for different cvelebrations and for christmas time and such. So it really brought back some sweet childhood memories here and thanks soo much for that too. And these are really gorgeous and would fit just perfect, if we got American visitors here for 4th of July some times too, as we´re the only place in the world, where 4th of July is celebrated outside the USA. It´s been celebrated here only 20 km from where I live every year and always with a lot of celebraties from both here and the US every year, even I have to confess, I haven´t see, who´s comming this year, but definitely a lot from the Danish/American friendship society, and they would proibaly have loved to have some of these for the day, I´m sure.

    1. Great point! National days are often celebrated across the world by those not able to celebrate “at home” for a number of reasons, and I’m sure printable decorations would be appreciated by those as well, since they are less likely to be able to find ready made decorations at their local stores!

I am hoping that some native American, IN the US will also like these and use them, since the original piece of fabric originates there, sort of to close the circle, if you know what I mean! They promised us sun, starting today, but today has also been grey and cold, although no rain so far today… Fingers crossed we will get the sunny weather before the weekend! xoxoxo

      1. Hmmm don´t know why this ended up here on this post, as I wrote it to the lanternpost earlier??? So I was worried it was lost again, as has happened before, when I saw this here LOL. Well never mind, I guess from the words you could tell it was meant for the other post ha ha ha.
Well here it´s been a really amazing day today and we´ve been walking in just shorts and suntop here, and it´s been the 2nd official summerday as we reached 25 degrees, and they promisse, it´ll keep on like this just with a tiny bit of grey and maybe a little bit of rain here friday, but only maybe, so we´re crossing everything here, that the summer will last at least for the next month now, and we´ve just ben cleaning the pool today and getting it ready for kids season here ha ha ha, so we hope the warm will last, so it can get really warm before they all get here, so help us cross everything.
It was also another amazing post here today too with lots more of great lanterns and stuff for 4th of July.
Hope you´ll get some really nice and warm weather from tomorrow too now.

      2. Today has actually offered a bit of heavy rain AND lovely sun, with very good temperatures. Still now at almost 22:00 I’m outside enjoying my deck in a t-shirt and skirt! The forecast for tomorrow is sunny and warm, we are supposed to get 28′ C during the afternoon…:-O I’ll try to get all the important stuff done in the morning, refill my water bottle several times during the day, and praise myself lucky for Friday being the last day of work before my summer vacation 😀 The girls go to their dad tomorrow, and come back on the 20ieth, just in time for us to start our journey to Denmark 😀 So I’ll have 2 precious weeks to organize my house, finish some crafty projects (like the revamping of my deck), hopefully work on some brand new crafty stuff, and in general get ready for the trip! It’s all working out sooo perfectly this summer…lol! Enjoy your evening too, and tell your girls that MY girls have also made lists of everything they want to do, so we might have to come again to experience everything…lol Me, I have two plans: 1. let the girls swim and bathe 2. relax and indulge in your crafty barn, hehehe! xoxoxo
