The WoW Challenge – The Results

I’m writing today to share with you the wonderful submissions to the WoW Challenge: The 7 Wallpaper Flags Garland!

Wings of Whimsy: Becky's Garland

Becky’s uses the Sears 1906 Flag No 23 to adorn one of the Perfume Cottages with a Birthday Greeting for her friend! So cute and so, so itsy bitsy tiny!!! I’m not much of a miniature crafter, so this kind of precision always impresses me loads 🙂

Wings of Whimsy: Maxine's Garland 1

Maxine used some of the blue flags in the Wallpaper Flag Collection for this delightful Edwardian Tea Time Digital Wallpaper!

Wings of Whimsy: Maxine's Garland 2

Maxine also picked a few of the 1963 Fashion of Today Wallpaper pennants for a fabulous Digital Wallpaper featuring the Beatles enjoying a cuppa 😀 I think both her collages are great, and they fit perfectly on my Macbook Pro, YAY!!

She has graciously agreed to let you all share both her designs, you can download them from her website HERE.

I was hoping for lots of submissions, with all the different pennants I have shared for ya’ll to play with and enjoy. Several people signed up for the WoW Challenge, but these were the only two who came through! So I’m cancelling the vote for a winner, and just declaring them both for outstanding ideas and well crafted! Of course I’ll be also sending goodie packages to both ladies 🙂

If you like the various pennants chosen by Becky and Maxine, they can all be found for you to download here:

Reader Projects 2014

On this second last day of the year, I would like to share what some of my readers have created, using printables or inspiration from Wings of Whimsy! I know I said at the beginning of the year that I’d make Reader Features more regular, but I did not manage to follow up on that in 2014. I did however save a few links and images of things created as a result of inspiration found on WoW, so here goes (most of the images are clickable, and will take you to these readers sites, presenting their wonderful work):

Barbara in Florida, USA created these amazing pennants with my French Cherubs and the Walter Crane Cherubs as background paper:Wings of Whimsy: Cherub Pennants by Barbara, Florida, USA - Reader Feature

Ingeborg in Holland made the pretties tags with a couple of the Valentine Hearts:Ingeborg also made a Crazy Quilt with one of my Victorian Ladies:

And finally Ingeborg made this beautiful album page for a Friendship book with one of my Valentine Cherubs:

Maryann and her 4 granddaughters in Denmark have probably worked their way through most of my printables and crafts this year, but as far as I know Maryann only shared images of one of the completed projects, Easter Eggs for her granddaughters. For this project she used both my Easter Tags, my Easter Bunny Tags, and my Easter Children Scraps:

Alexandra in Portugal used my Catherine Klein Pink Roses for these lovely Spring and Easter collages:

Dodo in France used a Valentine Heart to decorate a darling jar pin cushion:

Irene in Arkansas, USA used my Fisher Girls for her Tart Tin Ornaments:

Margie in England used my Sleigh Ride Children for one of her Tart Tin Ornaments:

Dianne in Minnesota, USA created her own version of the Christmas trees, using my template with bingo number trunks and poker chip bases added:

Sil in Holland made Gift Envelopes decorated with my Oval Christmas Angels:

Sil also made a big pile of Christmas Crackers with her own twist:

And she used the crackers with the Christmas Wax Seals for her Christmas Dinner table:

Amelia in South Africa made a gorgeous Christmas Ornament with my Sweet Christmas Cherubs:

Amelia even even assigned me with my own tag “Wings of Whimsy”, up there with “Tim Holz”, “Spellbinders” and “Marianne Design” – that’s pretty kewl! I love it 😀 I hope Amelia will find plenty of graphics here on WoW in the future, so my tag can grow 😀

Amelia might not remember this, but this creation of hers also has a small WoW-element, the little Walter Crane Cherubs up in the right corner:

I want to thank each and everyone one of you for seeing the potential in what I have shared here on WoW, downloading and making it your own! And don’t forget to send me images of your projects when you create somenthing, I always enjoy seeing your work, and I’ll share it here (eventually) if you’ll allow me to!

2014 WoW Christmas Ornament Swap: Review

Dear Friends! I hope you have all enjoyed the first few days of Christmas with your loved ones! 🙂

I have celebrated Christmas with my girls, my sister and her 3 children and our two brothers. That is all the family I have in this world, and I could not feel more happy that we got to celebrate it back home on the farm where we grew up, and my sister is now again living. We did not know last year if we were ever again going to come home, and the year 2014 has been a long, long struggle trying to reach that goal. Needless to say, it is a very special and magical Christmas for all of us!

I have decided to share a review of all the ornaments created for the 2014 WoW Christmas Ornament Swap! Both because they all deserve the attention, and because they represent so much talent, so much inspiration, and because I want to express how grateful I am to each and everyone who participated:

Thank you everyone who participated for sharing your talent with me and each other, and allowing me to share your beautiful work here on WoW! Thank you for every new technique you have brought our attention to! Thank you for overcoming the hardships of alien equipment, sickness and malfunctioning internet and email! We made it, and together we made a stunning statement piece of mixed media art 😀 51 gorgeous ornaments were presented in this series, and 48 of them traveled to new homes! I am so proud of what we accomplished together and it added another layer of magic to my Christmas 😀 Thank you Irene! Thank you Margie! Thank you Sil! Thank you Dianne! Thank you Dobie! Thank you Deb! Thank you Iris!

Did you miss out on the planning of this swap? This is what my swappers signed up for back in September:

Hello to all, just wanted to say I got my ornaments from Iris today and I loved them all. Such interesting use of a variety of materials and a bounty of inspiration. Thank you Iris and thanks too to Gunnvor for letting me join this swap!

Deb also included a picture of a bonus ornament she received from Iris:

Thank you both Deb and Iris for participating! I have enjoyed very much the fun of organizing the swap, and seeing all the amazing ornaments all of you were able to create! I hope to see you all again if I decide to set up another swap 🙂

2014 WoW Christmas Ornament Swap: Set No 15 of 16

The Christmas ornament set I’m sharing with you today is made with cookie cutters, by Iris in New York State, USA for Deb in Florida, USA:

Althought these ornaments are “related” and matching each other very well, they are still very different 😀 I simply love it! If you did not already notice, you should take a closer look on the backside of Iris’ first ornament in this post, the gorgeous vintage lady! I love the image she used, the shape of the cookie cutter and not the least the white feather-y thread/fabric(?) she used on the back!
